Robin Merrill has been named Greenville ISD's Executive Director of Special Education

Robin Merrill has been named Greenville ISD's Executive Director of Special Education. Robin Merrill

Mrs. Merrill comes to GISD from A+ Charter Schools in Dallas, where she has served as Director of Special Education. She also worked in Richardson ISD as an Educational Diagnostician.

“I am ecstatic about  joining the GISD team where lessons are created for wherever life leads. What I love most about my job is, ensuring that students and parents have the capacity to learn and grow. My passion for supporting others is what continues to help me accelerate in the field of education." Mrs. Merrill said.

GISD Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Dr. Shazzma Crooks said Merrill is a perfect fit.

“Robin Merrill is a special education leader with a stellar reputation and a proven track record.” Dr. Crooks said. “She has a gift for connecting with students and parents, and she always focuses on doing what's best for our students.”

Mrs. Merrill started her career in education as a life skills teacher at A+ Charter Schools, where she taught students in grades 7-12. She then worked as an Educational Diagnostician in Richardson ISD, and returned to A+ Charter Schools as the Director of Special Education. She earned her educational diagnostician certificate from Texas Tech University, her master's degree in special education from Grand Canyon University and her bachelor's degree in special education from the University of Southern Mississippi.
