Greenville High School serves as North Texas Food Bank hub

This school year, Greenville High School has partnered with the North Texas Food Bank to serve the community as a distribution site the second Tuesday of each month.

More than 550 boxes of food were provided to families at the first distribution in October, food ran out. Considering the large turnout, the NTFB sent many more boxes of food, and the high school enlisted more volunteers for the second distribution on Nov. 8. More than 700 people were served by GHS administration, staff and students.

Families receive 25-pound boxes of food per child in the household. Boxes contain dry staple foods, along with fresh fruits and vegetables. No ID or income verification is needed to pick up the food.

Upcoming distribution dates are Dec. 12, Jan. 10, Feb. 14, March 7, April 11 and May 9.
