Superintendent Sharon Boothe paid a surprise visit to Greenville High School junior Rubi Leon-Hernandez to announce that her artwork was selected for this year’s holiday card. 

Rubi created her detailed sketch of Santa in Bill Shiflet’s art class. 

“First of all, I love Christmas. I always think about kids and how much they love Santa. This picture shows how Santa would tell us to shush if we found him filling the kids’ stockings after they’d gone to bed.” 

Rubi says art is her favorite class, and she enjoys mixing media, as she did with this sketch in which she sketched Santa in pencil, then used markers to add a colorful pop.
