The state tradition continues

Students

On January 28 the Rockabots tournament marathon continued in Garland. Teams 148 B, D, E, and F worked hard to impress the judges with their improving interview skills.

Team 148 E ended their season with grit, overcoming lots of challenges throughout the season and this competition, always with a great attitude and willingness to work.

Teams 148 B and D narrowly missed the finals, placing only a few places away from the finalist spots. Team 148 D is focused on their next tournament in Granbury where they will attempt to earn an invitation to State.

Team 148 D led in Skills until the final hour of the competition, thanks to their autonomous code they ran for the first time in competition. They ended the day in third place.  Their scores moved them into the top 20 in the region

A big congratulations goes to 148 F who came in second place in Skills and Teamwork putting them one spot away from qualifying for State for the third tournament this year. They moved themselves up to top 10 in the Region which earned them an invitation to State!

They are carrying on the tradition of Rockabots teams who have made it to State every year the program has competed.  We want to wish them luck as they work to continue to improve their robot to meet their goal of an invitation to Worlds.

Rockabots Coach Susanna Berrones is amazed at the many hours these VEX IQ rookies are willing to put in and with the best attitudes.

“I am especially amazed by the transformation of team 148 F having come from the team with the weakest robot that didn’t make it to the first tournament to the leader of all the teams and first one to qualify for state,” Berrones said. “They are living out our motto, Fail Forward!”
