Two GHS VEX Robotics teams are headed to Worlds

Team 4148E Team 4148A

The VEX Robotics Region 2 Championships were held on Saturday, March 4, at Carroll Senior High School in Southlake. GHS was represented by three teams: 4148A, and 4148E (fresh off of their recent 5A UIL Championship win together) and 4148V, a pure defensive robot. All three teams performed well and all three made it to the elimination rounds.

Teams 4148A and 4148V fought hard with their alliance partners but were unable to advance to later rounds. 4148E along with their alliance partners from Southlake 7110A made it to the finals where they would prevail and claim the title of Texas Region 2 State CHAMPIONS.

4148E finished first overall in the skills competition and were named the Robot Skills Champions. 4148A also had a strong showing in skills, finishing the tournament in fifth place with a score of 305.

In the judged awards category, 4148A won the Design Award for best overall engineering notebook, team interview and approach to the engineering design process.

Both 4148E and 4148A have qualified to compete at the VEX Robotics World Championships this April in Dallas.

VEX Robotics Coach Corey Bankston says he is never shocked by the performance these students give time after time.

“It is proof of their dedication and commitment to their teams, their school and themselves every time they compete.” Bankston said. “They have worked countless hours to achieve what they have and I am proud of each and every one of them.”

Congratulations to these incredible GHS students and teams!
