We have some exciting news to share! Davyunna Wickerson, a member of the Greenville Middle School 8th grade choir, has secured a spot in the All-Region Choir.
Schools from all over the region participated in the competition this past weekend. Students must learn two choir songs to audition and also be prepared to sing an eight-measure sight-reading exercise.
Kaytlin Alford has been Davyunna’s choir teacher since the sixth grade.
“Davyunna has shown tremendous growth as both a singer and a leader.” Ms. Alford said. “She secured a spot in the prestigious Honor Treble Choir, ranking among the top 20 in a room with over 70 talented singers. This is the first time in six years a student from GMS has made All-Region, and it’s been amazing to have been a part of this process.”
When asked how she feels about this achievement Davyunna, had this to share.
“I’ve wanted to sing since I was three years old. I feel honored to have gotten to represent GMS and feel a huge sense of accomplishment for my younger self. I want to thank my teacher Mrs. Alford and my principal Mr. Carter for supporting me.”
Her journey continues as she prepares for an all-day clinic and concert on Saturday, February 24, at Utley Middle School in Rockwall.
Join us in congratulating Davyunna on this exceptional musical achievement!
