Greenville ISD received an updated report from the Greenville Police Department at 11:00 a.m. on November 8^th regarding the alleged suspect approaching a Greenville Middle School student on November 7^th, 2012.

After pulling video surveillance and investigating the situation, the GPD discovered that the alleged suspect was a Greenville Middle School parent who mistook the identity of the student for that of a friend’s grandchild. Being that it was an early release day, he was concerned that the student had not yet been picked up and was offering a ride to her home. He simply mistook the child for another.

We are proud of our student for reporting the situation and thankful to the Greenville Police Department for their quick and thorough investigation.

Although this proved to be an innocent situation, we still request that students, parents and guardians remain watchful of their surroundings. Thank you for your vigilance.
