We are heartbroken to hear of the unspeakable loss of innocent life in Connecticut today. The loss of children’s lives is terribly tragic and the loss of teachers and educators who devoted themselves to children is most unthinkable. Our thoughts and prayers will remain with the family and community of those lost in this horrible event.

As we mourn the loss of life at Sandy Hook Elementary School, we continue to hold that the safety of your children is our number one priority as educators in Greenville ISD. In accordance, we employ the following safety measures: Lock out and lock down drills conducted by our School Resource Officers, rigorous and regular Safety Audits, one point of entry at each campus, mandatory identification program for campus visitors and camera systems.

In addition, a comprehensive Crisis Management Plan is posted in each classroom on each GISD campus. The school district also implemented School Messenger this year to make sure parents and guardians would have immediate access to important alerts and notices.
