What an interesting class as Ms. Kelly Blessing from FIDM presented information on the Fashion Design industry.

Ms. Blessing is from FIDM, a college in California that focuses on Fashion Design and Merchandising. She shared that this is an annual $350 billion industry in the United States. 

They talked about trends through the decades, and the trend right now in the United States is Athleisure, combining athletic wear with leisure wear.  She explained that the city of Austin is a trend city because of SXSW, and that fashion designers watch what is being worn at that event. Another trend in the U.S. is animal pictures on clothing.

Ms. Blessing shared opportunities for careers in Fashion Design, including trend forecasting, designing, manufacturing, planning, marketing, buying and sales.
