Here are the highlights from the Jan. 21, 2020 School Board meeting:

Invocation:

Pastor Brent Grissom of the First Assembly of God opened the meeting with prayer.

Recognition:

Students, principals and other campus representatives honored trustees in honor of School Board Recognition Month.
GHS Varsity Football players, coaches and trainers were honored for their outstanding season, which was the best since 2003.
GHS Varsity Volleyball players, coaches and trainers were honored for their outstanding season, which was the best since 2005.
GMS Library Paraprofessional Lisa Aly was honored as the January Hero of Hope.

Open Forum and Public Comment for Agenda Items:

Greenville Mayor David Dreiling read a proclamation congratulating the board on its accomplishments and proclaiming Jan. 21, 2020 as GISD School Board Appreciation Day.
Chartwells representatives congratulated the Board on being named a finalist as an H-E-B Outstanding School Board.

Public Hearing:

GISD's Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) was presented, and public comment was invited.
