Here are the highlights from the January 19, 2021, School Board meeting:

  • The meeting opened with the call to order, invocation by Father Nick Funk, St. Paul's Episcopal Church and pledge of allegiance lead by Katrina Row's first-grade class from Bowie Elementary.

Recognition

  • Recognition of the 2020 GHS Lions Football Team and Coaches
  • Recognition of the Greenville ISD Board of Trustees
  • Recognition of GISD’s January Hero of Hope – GHS fashion design teacher Kimberly Stewart

Open forum for agenda-related items - Comments from the public were read to the school board.

Comments from Individual Board Members: School Board Vice President Roger Livingston reported on some school board training he recently attended.

School Board President Trena Stafford read a card from Crockett/STEM thanking the school board for their service.

Stafford invited other school board members to take her place on the Greenville Educational Enrichment Foundation board. 

Public hearing on 2019-2020 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) - Director of Assessment and Accountability Rachael Driggers presented the annual TAPR report.

  • Report on district operations during COVID-19 pandemic 

Action/Discussion Items 

  • Approved School Board 2021 annual agenda calendar
  • Approved update to Board of Trustees goals
  • Approved modification to the 2020-2021 school academic calendar to reflect 2,100 minutes of asynchronous learning days
  • Approved elementary STAAR test days asynchronous waiver
  • Approved contract to be signed with GEUS for E-rate.
  • Approved the adoption of policy BE (LOCAL)

  • Order of May 1, 2021 Election
  • Notice of May 1, 2021 Election
  • Board minutes for December 15, 2020 and January 12, 2021

  • Approved contract with Hunt County Voter Administration to conduct May 1, 2021 Election  
  • Approved Master Agreement with Insight Education Group

Open forum for non-agenda items:  A letter was read to the board submitted by Penni Perkins pertaining to nine-weeks testing.
