James Hamilton | Greenville Police Officer | '98 Grad

James Hamilton

Greenville High School 1998 grad James Hamilton has spent 20 years as an officer with the Greenville Police Department. He specializes in community programming and outreach and crime prevention.

In high school, James knew he would enter law enforcement and credits his government and economics teacher, Mr. Adams, for helping him learn about Texas laws and legal cases. Sometimes the two would discuss laws and rulings that “had nothing to do with class.” James also mentioned coaches Sedberry, Jarvis, Moore and Mason for instilling a team-first attitude that has benefitted him ever since.

“The teachers and staff of Greenville ISD helped to give me a foundation of selfless service to my community.” James said.

James earned a degree from Texas A&M Commerce and returned to Greenville to serve the community he considers family. He began his service to Greenville as student resource officer (SRO) at the very high school he attended.

“The sense of community that I felt in Greenville led me to working with juveniles as an SRO to make a difference in their lives and try and prevent them from ending up in the justice system.” James said.

James’ connection to Greenville and GISD runs generations deep.

“I would also like to recognize my amazing wife Heather who attended GISD as well and the amazing support and love that she has given me for over 18 years. We have two amazing children that are enrolled in GISD and will be sixth generation to graduate from Greenville High School.”

Congratulations, James, on being the latest honoree in GISD's Look at Them Now series!
