Emely Ramirez-Sanchez | Counselor | '14 Grad

Emely Ramirez-Sanchez

Greenville High School 2014 grad Emely Ramirez-Sanchez has been connected to Carver Elementary ever since she was a Cool Cat as a student.

After graduating from GHS and earning her teaching degree, she returned to Greenville and Carver as a fourth-grade bilingual teacher.

Emely’s own fourth-grade teacher, Ms. Lemmon is the reason she wanted to become a fourth-grade teacher and loves reading to students.

“She would read books aloud, and her energy was always so positive.” Emely said.

She was in that role for two years, before pursuing a master’s degree in counseling from Texas Women’s University.

Emely says her sophomore English teacher Mrs. Martin was “empathetic and accepting towards all students regardless of their background. She encouraged me to pursue my dreams.”

Her Carver connection will continue in the fall of 2022 when she rejoins the staff as the campus counselor. The current counselor, Deedre Peck, will be transitioning to a dyslexia therapy role with the district. In this position, Emely will provide support to students who are sitting in the same classrooms she did when she was their age.

Emely looks up to her parents, Juan and Sonia, who were immigrants to America and faced poverty. They instilled the value of hard work and education in their children. Despite the challenges of financial hardships and language barriers, Emely and all three of her siblings became first-generation college graduates.

Congratulations, Emely, on being the latest honoree in GISD's Look at Them Now series!
