Greenville High School 1994 grad Kyle Smith has been a dentist in Greenville since 2005, when he joined his father Dr. Durrell “Buddy” Smith at Smith Family Dentistry.
"GISD provided me with a unique education in that I always felt supported and important,” Dr. Smith said. “So many of my teachers were kind to me, and I knew they wanted to see me succeed. I also felt challenged as a student at GISD. This helped me prepare for college and beyond.”
He received his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University. He went on to the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2005. Dr. Smith came home to Greenville and has practiced dentistry ever since.
In 2019, Dr. Smith completed the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine Mastery course to help patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. He has since opened Dental Sleep Solutions of Greenville and McKinney to treat sleep apnea and snoring.
Dr. Smith said Mrs. Vanessa Pope, Mrs. Sandy Feezel and coach Don Johnson were teachers who had a strong positive influence on his life. He also mentioned football teammates Eric Wall, Brandon Hoff and Sean MacRory as inspirational figures. The four Lions are close friends to this day.

In 2005, Dr. Smith married his “amazing wife" Holly. The couple have two children, Lydia and Carter, who keep them very busy with music, sports, and school activities.
