Bond Called with Megaphone

With the continuous growth in Hunt County, Greenville ISD is beginning to experience rapid student enrollment. PASA conducted a demographic study for the district, projecting 8,207 students to be enrolled in GISD in the next 10 years. Currently, over half of the elementary campuses are operating above 100% of capacity. By the 2034/35 school year, every campus is projected to exceed 120% of capacity. As a result, our district is proactively planning to expand district facilities to accommodate the current capacity and anticipated growth, while other bond projects will address aging facilities and future-ready learning spaces.

On August 11, 2025, the Greenville ISD School Board voted unanimously to seek voter approval for a $399,000,000 bond issue. This process has been a community effort with a Bond Planning Committee over the last several months. The Committee included citizens, city leaders, board members, staff members, and parents. The Committee dedicated several months to data collection, evaluations, and planning to assemble this bond package.

The district’s financial advisor has determined that there would be a $0.16 (16 cents) tax rate increase to finance this bond. For the average home in Greenville ISD valued at $260,000, this represents an increase of $16 per month. Projects will be funded based on new valuations and growth within the district.
