Greenville ISD Administration will present the proposed acquisition of two parcels of land to the Greenville ISD Board of Trustees during a Called Board Meeting on Monday, April 27 at 5:00 p.m. The proposed purchases represent a major step forward in the district’s long-range planning and the vision approved by voters in the November 2025 bond election.
The first tract includes approximately 60.849 acres located on the west side of Monty Stratton Parkway and is listed as an action item under Board Agenda Item VI.A. A second tract, approximately 18.62 acres located on County Road 2122, is included under Action Item VI.B.
If approved, the two properties will be combined to serve as the future site of the new Greenville High School, a key component of the 2025 bond package.
These action items follow ongoing discussions and negotiations with current property owners regarding the potential sale of the land. As with any real estate transaction, details have remained limited throughout the process to protect the integrity of negotiations and ensure the district’s ability to move forward responsibly and in the best interest of taxpayers.
The proposed location sits less than one mile from the current Greenville High School campus and T.A. Cotton Ford Stadium, which will remain the district’s primary athletic facility. The proximity of the new site allows for continuity in student experience and provides logistical advantages as the district plans for the future. The location was selected with accessibility, long-term needs, and proximity to existing district facilities in mind.
Superintendent Dr. Joe Lopez said the district has been thoughtful and intentional in identifying the right location for this project and what it means for the future of Greenville ISD.
“We’ve been very intentional about finding a location that supports both where we are today and where we’re going as a district,” Lopez said. “This is an exciting step forward, and one that reflects the trust our community placed in us through the bond. We’re looking forward to continuing this process and building something that will serve our students and families for years to come.”
Greenville ISD is working in partnership with WRA Architects and Pogue Construction, serving as Construction Manager at Risk, to support the planning and development of bond projects across the district. Following board approval, the district will move into the next phase of planning and design in coordination with its partners.
The April 27 meeting will provide the Board of Trustees an opportunity to consider and take action on the proposed land acquisitions as Greenville ISD continues to build for the future.
