Greenville ISD’s Health Services Department has received more than $22,000 in federal grant funding to purchase new medical, screening, and emergency response equipment that will support students and staff across the district.
The department, which oversees student health services, campus nursing support, screenings, emergency preparedness, and staff health training across Greenville ISD campuses, used the funding to expand resources focused on safety, prevention, and campus response.
Among the purchases were 16 adult CPR manikins, 16 infant CPR manikins, updated CPR manuals, and training materials valued at $5,668. The equipment will be used to help train and prepare staff to respond during medical emergencies on campuses.
The department also received five audiometers valued at $5,875 and four vision screeners valued at $2,062 to assist with student hearing and vision screenings throughout the school year. Greenville ISD also added a Welch Allyn Vision Spot Screener valued at $7,381.54, allowing nursing staff to conduct faster and more accurate vision screenings for students.
Additional safety upgrades included four evacuation chairs for Greenville High School and Greenville Middle School, valued at $1,160, which can assist individuals with mobility needs during emergency situations.
Health Services Director Rachael Thurmond said the grant funding will help campuses continue strengthening both student care and staff preparedness.
“This grant provided Health Services with the tools to perform better screenings and equipment for staff to respond and protect,” Thurmond said. “It helps us support learning, keep staff prepared, and strengthen safety on every campus in Greenville ISD.”
The new equipment will be utilized across Greenville ISD campuses as the district continues prioritizing student wellness, campus safety, and preparedness for both daily health needs and emergency situations.
