Demetrus Liggins, Ph. D, currently serves as Superintendent of the Greenville Independent School District. Most recently, Dr. Liggins served as an Area Superintendent in Grand Prairie ISD for three years, where he supervised the district's largest high school, three middle schools, and seven elementary campuses.
From 2011 to 2014, Dr. Liggins served as a Principal in Grand Prairie ISD. From 2005 to 2011, he served as a Principal in Corsicana ISD and Mansfield ISD, respectively, each for three years. Dr. Liggins also served in Nacadogoches ISD for three years where he started out as an elementary bilingual/duel language teacher and was then promoted to Assitant Principal.
Dr. Liggins began his teaching career in Fresno, CA as a high school English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Language Arts (ELA) teacher.
Dr. Liggins holds a B.A. in Education and an M.A. in English from California State University, an M.Ed. from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a Ph. D. from the University of Texas-Arlington.
