    Identification and Assessment

    Kindergarten:

All Kindergarten students enrolled at the time of testing will be screened for possible further Gifted/Talented testing. No referral is needed since all students are automatically screened.

    First grade-Twelfth grade:

Greenville ISD will conduct two Gifted/Talented referral windows for two separate grade bands.

    • The referral window for 4th grade through 12th grade will be from January 8-19.
    • The referral window for 1st grade through 3rd grade will be April 15-26.

Any staff member, parent, or community member may refer a student. We encourage anyone that questions whether a student may need Gifted/Talented services to refer them during the appropriate window. During the window, you may request a referral form from your campus and the forms are linked below.

    Assessment Window and Placement

In grades 4 through 12, the assessment process will be completed in the Spring and services will begin the following Fall via mandatory placement in honors level coursework.

In grades 1 through 3, the assessment process will take place in the Fall and services will begin directly after permission is received.

The referral form will be available at your campus office during the referral window and is also available as a link below.

    Transfer Students

If a student that enrolls at Greenville ISD was receiving Gifted/Talented Services from their previous district, that testing documentation needs to be provided to the student’s campus. Once received, the District Gifted/Talented Committee will review the information and make a determination on placement in the program. If the information provided meets the district requirements, parent permission will be obtained. Greenville ISD has 30 days to make this determination. In the best interest of the students, this process will take place in a timely manner.

If you need further information, please reach out to your campus office.
