NJROTC Program Expanded to GMS

With the expansion of the Greenville ISD NJROTC program to Greenville Middle School, the need arose for a highly qualified instructor capable of vertically aligning the program to the award-winning high school courses.

Boasting resume highlights such as advanced senior recruiter with the Navy, Navy’s Sailor of the Year, Aviation Electrical Technician and professional NBA player, Petty Officer Carl Wright fit the description to perfection.

Wright stated, “I realized I had a strong desire to be influential in children’s lives during my duties as a Navy recruiter in Dallas ISD. The ability to work in a school district and marry my work history and personal desires to mentor students is a great match.”

Greenville Middle School Principal David Gish agrees, “Petty Officer Wright is a great addition to GMS and our students already have so much admiration and respect for him. The sixty slots we had designated for the NJROTC expansion were filled instantly and our students could not be more excited about the program.”

The NJROTC program is one of the most unique and interesting programs offered to students with curriculum including numerous courses addressing career planning, citizenship, ethics, history, leadership, geography, oceanography, aeronautical science and national security. A student’s NJROTC schedule also includes academics, uniform inspection and formation, drill, marksmanship training and physical training.
