GHS VEX Robotics Take Home 6th Place & Excellence Award

Last Saturday, the Greenville High School VEX Robotics team 4148A, the Iron Cowboys, competed in the Jack E. Singley tournament in Irving. The team finished the tournament in sixth place and received the Excellence Award.

“The high-speed popper/flywheel combination managed to crank out 24 shots in 14 seconds. This high speed point scoring machine, paired with a great alliance with 136m from the Lloyd V. Berkner High School, made the team very strong,” said Iron Cowboys Coach, Colin Nobles, of the team’s performance.

Before the elimination rounds, the GHS alliance with 136M was selected by team2019A from Flower Mound. The trio accelerated through the elimination rounds and into the finals where they went 1-2-0. The alliance finished the tournament and sixth place and the Iron Cowboys were awarded the Excellence Award, given to the top overall team in terms of the robot, engineering notebook, design process, and presentation.

"4148A works very hard outside of class and I’m very pleased to see them recognized for it,” said Nobles. “I’m very proud of this team and all they have accomplished," he said.
