GISD Police Department Purchases Officer Vehicles

The red, black, and white is hitting the streets. Greenville ISD recently purchased three police cruisers for its new police department.  The 2012 Dodge Chargers that were selected are an industry based standard cruiser.  The department looked for used cruisers that were well maintained, clean, and could meet the needs of the department, yet were reasonably priced.

The Chargers selected were previously designated for police use and cost the district on average $7,950 per vehicle. The cars have been branded with new decal work that was commissioned by the department and completed by The Shop in Greenville. Lights, cages, and other slight modifications will be added to each vehicle as well, bringing the overall average cost per vehicle to $12,350.  This is approximately $7,000 less than was budgeted for the cruisers and competitively priced for other similar cruisers.

The Dodge Charger is used by police departments throughout the country including many in service with the Greenville Police Department, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
