All campuses earn top ratings & GISD earns a 'B' under new system
Greenville ISD received some great news from the state today: all campuses were highly rated, and the district received a "B" as a whole. In addition to the overall ratings, GISD campuses earned a total of 11 academic distinctions, which reflect outstanding student performance when compared with peers.
"These ratings reflect the outstanding work that our students, teachers and supportive parents engage in every day," Greenville ISD Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins said. "The A-F rating system is new this year, and it is only one measure, but under last year's preliminary A-F system, GISD would have received a 'D.' We are celebrating - this signifies tremendous progress. And we all know the amount of work and dedication it takes to earn these honors."
The academic distinctions are based on how campuses performed in comparison to a group of similar size, grade span and student demographics. This year, Greenville ISD campuses earned 11 distinctions, compared with three last year. Kudos to the students at Katherine G. Johnson STEM Academy, who earned every possible distinction designation, bringing home six total. Here are the details of all 11 distinction designations:

"This is a great way to start the school year," Liggins said. "Our students are achieving at high levels, our budget is balanced, and there's a great focus on the future. We can't wait until our students arrive on Monday so we can celebrate with them and launch a new school year of continuous improvement."
