GHS choir students place BIG at UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest

BIG congratulations to the Greenville High School choral department who had 20 out of 24 singers receive first division medals the past weekend at the UIL Solo & Ensemble annual contest. Sixteen of these singers have qualified for the State Solo & Ensemble competition that will be held in May.

"I'm very proud of these ladies and gentlemen, they have worked extremely hard,” said Scott Surface, GHS Director of Choirs. “The sixteen qualifying for state doubles our number of eight that qualified last year.

Joel Weisberg, Director of Bands & GISD Secondary Fine Arts Cordinator expressed his excitement and pride for the students. “CONGRATULATIONS on your fantastic performances this past Saturday at UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest!” he shared. “I am so proud of the amount of entries, AND those who have qualified for the State UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest!!! Your hard work and dedication has paid off in a HUGE way.”

Congratulations to all the students, Mr. Surface and accompanist Mr. Mark!
