l3 engineers speakers

Greenville High School geometry students recently got a glimpse into how their math skills could lead to a lucrative engineering career. L3 software engineers Taylor Mullen and Holly Long described their careers and told students about the top skills that will pay off for them as they prepare for their college and career futures.

"Right now is a really good time to start exploring," Long said. "Most people don't know exactly what they want to do, but there are some universal skills you can use for everything."

Those include these must-haves:

  • Interview skills
  • Communications skills
  • How to work in a team
  • How to work independently
  • Time managements
  • Problem solving
  • Self-teaching
  • Business  minimums
  • How to write skillfully and technically
  • Ability to be agile
  • Organization
  • Skillful presentation of data and other information
  • Being able to work as a member of a team

"Even if you're not going into the engineering world, it's important to keep with with technology and research. You'll want to follow companies and universities and what they're working on," Mullen said. "Also, listen to your teachers!"

Thank you, L3 engineers for taking the time to come to GHS to talk to our students! We appreciate you!
