The sparks were flying Thursday afternoon at Greenville High School, where students built livestock feeders from scratch in just four hours.

"This is our third year to host the competition," said Agricultural Mechanics teacher Alex Xanthus. "It's a great event because it brings together an entire year's worth of work and puts it in a real-world application. Our students problem-solve, adapt and work as a team to build a finished product in four hours."

Ten Hunt County teams competed, and students were only allowed to use the tools and power sources they brought onsite.

Xanthus said he and his students appreciate the support of community members. Donations of tools and metal, including scrap metal, are always appreciated.
