Introducing the Teachers' Supply Closet!

It's early in the school year, but before you know it, teachers and students will be scrounging around for crayons, paper, notebooks and more.

We have great news! There are lots of new school supplies for FREE at the Teachers' Supply Closet. There's also a poster maker, laminator, copier and collection of die cuts ready for teachers to use.

Superstar GISD retired teachers Jan Teeters and Renda Loftin have generously volunteered their time and skills to run the Teacher Supply Closet, which is located at the PRIDE Center in the Houston Education Center.

"When I was a teacher, there was no place like this to go for free supplies, so just like every other teacher, I ended up paying for a lot of things out of my pocket," Jan said. "I love GISD. It has my heart, and it always will. I can't just walk away from something I love."

Here's how it works:
  • Every week, an updated inventory will be posted.
  • When teachers need supplies, they check the inventory to see if what they need is in stock.
  • Requests for supplies are sent to supplies@greenvilleisd.com
  • If something is needed and it isn't in stock, we'll ask around for a donation.
The Supply Closet also has backpacks, winter coats and other necessities for students. Just make a GISD employee aware of the need, and we'll make sure the child is taken care of.

Thank you, Jan and Renda, for your big hearts and meticulous organizational skills! And thank you to our generous donors, including the Greenville Educational Enrichment Foundation, Brookshires, and many more community supporters. We appreciate you!
