Birthday card winner's artwork was inspired by her grandmother
Greenville High School junior Jenna Wade’s artwork was chosen for the GISD employee birthday card. Jenna, who is a volleyball player, said her grandmother Judy Tarpley was the inspiration behind her painting.
“Before every game, my grandmother would send me a lion she’d color on her phone app. Her lions were always bright, and she used every color in the rainbow. My lion looks like one of hers.”
GHS art teacher Bill Shiflet says Jenna’s work is “always mind-blowing. She never does the expected.”
Every Greenville ISD employee receives a birthday card from Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins. Our employees tell us it's one of the things that makes them feel most appreciated, and some even say it's the only birthday card they get all year!
