What every parent needs to know about 2021 STAAR testing

This school year has been far from normal for all of us. As we plan for next year, it is important that we assess where every student is in their learning so that we can provide support to fill in the gaps.

STAAR is just one of many ways to measure student learning. It is combined with other measures like personal observations, teacher feedback, and daily grades to give families a more complete picture of their child’s learning over the past year.

The Texas Education Agency requires that the test be given in person. This year, your child’s scores may be lower than in previous years. It is important that your child knows this is because of the learning disruptions over the past year.
