Here are the highlights from the November 17, 2020, School Board meeting:

• The meeting opened with the call to order, invocation by Pastor Micah Johnson, Bethlehem Baptist Church and pledge of allegiance lead by Belynda Hughes' second grade class at Lamar Elementary.

Recognition

• Recognition of Greenville ISD Birthday Card Artist - Jenna Wade
• Recognition of GISD’s November Hero of Hope – GISD Flaming Flash Director Lori Butler

Open forum for agenda-related items: There were no public comments

Comments from Individual Board Members: Fellow trustee Trena Stafford thanked Dr. Kim Butcher for her service on the board. Dr. Butcher shared some parting words about her time on the board and thanked the trustees and Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins for their partnership.  

Dr. Liggins presented Dr. Butcher with a clock representing her many hours of service to the GISD. 

Oath of Office for new board members: The following board members were sworn in for their terms on the board:

• District 2 - Trena Stafford
• District 3 - Janna Stephens
• District 4 - Tish Woodruff
• District 5 - Mike Rackley

Reorganization of the Board: The board voted on the following board positions for the 2020-21 school year:

• Trena Stafford - President
• Roger Livingston - Vice President
• Tish Woodruff - Secretary

FIRST Report Card Public Hearing - Chief Financial Officer Sherry Dodson gave a report on the district's FIRST Report Card.

There were no public comments.

• Report on district operations during COVID-19 pandemic 
• Report from the Greenville Educational Enrichment Foundation - GEEF President Anji Taylor gave the annual report. 
• Dr. Liggins presented board goals for the 2020-21 school year.

• Consider approval of the Annual Investment Report and District Investment Policy - a report was given by Chief Financial Officer Sherry Dodson
• Consider approval of board members to serve on the School Safety and Security Committee
