Here are the highlights from the Dec. 13, 2022 School Board meeting:
The meeting opened with a call to order by President Aletha Kruse at 5:30 p.m. with a quorum present.
Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church Pastor Bobby Sparks delivered the invocation.

- Greenville Middle School eighth-grader William Glenn-Brown
Recognition
- Student Recognition: Greenville High School junior Rubi Leon-Hernandez was recognized for creating the beautiful artwork for this year's official GISD holiday card.
- Impactful Partner: Greenville Electric Utility System (GEUS) was honored for the many ways they support the district, including:
- Running positive content about GISD on GEUS channel 34 daily
- Livestreaming GISD events
- Underwriting activities and sponsoring community special events
- Making great presentations at campus career days
- Hero of Hope: Servando Loredo, special education aide at Lamar Elementary, was honored.

Reports/Discussion Items
Superintendent's Report: Superintendent Sharon Boothe gave highlights of news and events from around the district.
Finance: A representative from SAMCO Finance presented financial options for GISD to consider for facilities needs.
Technology: Assistant Superintendent of Technology Shannon Fulp reported on future technology projects. The Board approved a transfer of $428,927.82 for an eRate purchase to fund the projects.

Special Education: Educational Consultant Tracy Cartas discussed laws, policies and best practices regarding school discipline for students in special education programs.

The Board approved a transfer of funds for Maintenance and Operations ($9,800) for an insurance claim reimbursement.
The Board approved the purchase of $75,374.58 for cleaning and disinfecting supplies funded through a federal grant.
